STRUCTURAL CONCRETE&
WALLS.

Foundations, footers, commercial slabs, loading docks, parking lots, and engineered retaining walls — heavy concrete work built to engineer specs.

OVERVIEW / 01

HEAVY CONCRETE.
BUILT TO SPEC.

When the slab is going to hold a forklift, when the wall has to retain a hill, when the foundation supports a multi-story building — there's no room for "close enough." Structural concrete demands proper rebar, proper PSI, proper depth, proper drainage. Skip any of it and the failure shows up years later when it's expensive to fix.

Muthler Construction handles structural and commercial-scale concrete across Central PA — engineered to drawings, poured by an experienced crew, inspected and signed off. Our ready-mix comes from our longtime partner Centre Concrete, so we control quality from the truck to the trowel.

CAPABILITIES / 02

WHAT WE
POUR.

01

Foundations & Footers

Strip footings, spread footings, full perimeter foundations. Sized to engineer specs, properly drained.

02

Commercial Slabs

Warehouse floors, garage slabs, industrial pads. Heavy-duty rebar, control joints, proper PSI for the load.

03

Parking Lots & Drives

Commercial parking lots, loading approaches, heavy-duty driveways. Built for trucks, not just cars.

04

Loading Docks

Dock pits, approach slabs, dock plates. Engineered for the trucks and forklifts that will use them.

05

Engineered Retaining Walls

Large structural walls per engineer drawings — geogrid, drainage tile, proper backfill, code-compliant.

06

Specialty Pours

Equipment pads, generator pads, transformer pads, custom structural pours per your engineer's specs.

MATERIALS / 03

REAL PSI.
REAL REBAR.

The mix and the steel make the difference. We don't cut corners.

Centre Concrete Partnership
Long-standing supplier relationship, reliable PSI, on-time deliveries to every site.
Proper Rebar Specs
Sized and placed to engineer drawings, never "what we had on the truck."
Vapor Barriers & Bases
Crushed stone bases, vapor barriers, proper compaction under every pour.
Cold-Weather Protocols
Heated tents, blankets, accelerators when needed for winter pours in Central PA.
WHY MUTHLER / 04

POURED RIGHT.
LASTS DECADES.

Bad structural concrete shows up 5 or 10 years later — cracked, settled, leaking. Poured right, it just works for the life of the building.

Engineer-Spec ComplianceWe follow drawings exactly, document everything, hand off to inspection cleanly.
Own Equipment & CrewPumps, pour crews, finishers — no waiting on subcontractor schedules.
Quality ControlProper slump tests, cylinder samples for structural pours, inspection-ready documentation.
Cold-Weather CapableWe pour through Central PA winters when needed, with proper protection protocols.
FAQ / 05

COMMON
QUESTIONS.

What's the difference between residential and structural concrete?
Residential concrete (driveways, patios, sidewalks) is typically 4" thick with light reinforcement. Structural concrete (commercial slabs, foundations) is 6–10"+ with heavy rebar and engineered specs. We do residential too on our landscaping division — this page is the commercial heavy stuff.
Do you work from engineer-stamped drawings?
Yes — for any structural pour, we follow stamped engineering drawings exactly. We flag buildability issues before pour day, never during.
Can you pour during Central PA winters?
Yes, with proper precautions — heated enclosures, blankets, calcium chloride accelerators, cold-weather mix designs. We don't pour when conditions can't be controlled safely.
What about retaining walls — what's the limit?
We build engineered retaining walls per stamped drawings — typically up to 12ft+ for commercial sites. Larger walls require geogrid systems and structural engineering coordination. We work with PA-licensed engineers for anything significant.
Do you handle the structural permitting?
We coordinate. Most commercial concrete work has permits tied to the larger building project. For standalone retaining walls or specialty pours, we either pull or assist with the permit process.
What size jobs do you take?
Anything from a single equipment pad to multi-thousand-square-foot warehouse floors. If there's rebar and engineering involved, it's our work.
