HOME/
ADDITIONS.

Room additions, second-story expansions, attached garages, and full home buildouts — adding real square footage to your home, built to match what's already there.

OVERVIEW / 01

MORE HOUSE.
SAME HOUSE.

Moving is expensive. Selling is exhausting. Adding to the home you already love is often smarter — when it's done right. The wrong addition looks tacked-on, leaks at the seams, and devalues your property. A right one feels like the house always had that room.

Muthler Construction handles residential additions across Central PA — foundation work, framing, roof tie-ins, siding match, finishes — all in-house. Same crew that handles the structural side handles the final paint. No project handoffs.

FAQ / 05

COMMON
QUESTIONS.

How long does a home addition take?
Single-room additions: 4–8 weeks. Second-story additions or large multi-room buildouts: 3–6 months. Whole-home buildouts can stretch longer depending on scope. We give realistic timelines at proposal.
Can we stay in the house during construction?
Almost always yes — the new section is built before we cut into the existing wall. You may have a few weeks of disruption when we connect the two, but the goal is "no, you don't have to move out."
Do you handle the permits?
Yes. We pull the building permit, coordinate with your township, and schedule inspections. Some larger additions need engineered drawings — we work with PA-licensed structural engineers for those.
Will the new addition match the existing house?
Yes — that's the whole point. We match siding, roofing, trim, window style, and finishes. If exact materials aren't available, we get the closest match and explain options at proposal.
Can you add a second floor on a slab-on-grade ranch?
Sometimes, depending on the existing foundation and load-bearing walls. We'll do a structural evaluation up front. If the existing structure can't support it, we'll tell you straight — and offer alternatives like a ground-floor expansion instead.
How do you handle the budget?
Real numbers up front, line-item proposal, no surprise change orders. If something unexpected comes up during construction (rotted framing, hidden plumbing issues), we stop, document, show you, and price the change before doing the work.
