I’m Thayne Muthler, owner of Muthler Construction & Excavating, based in Lock Haven, Pennsylvania. What started in 2017 as a small mowing operation grew into a trusted local name—first through Muthler Landscaping, and now through Muthler Construction & Excavating, the side of the business built for excavation, site work, and larger construction projects.

We’re a company that believes in doing the job once and doing it right—because nothing lasts if the groundwork isn’t done correctly.

Where We Started

Back in the spring of 2017, I started with nothing more than a mower, a few lawns around Lock Haven, and the drive to build something real. That early hustle became Muthler Landscaping, and year after year we earned our reputation through hard work, reliability, and showing up when we said we would.

A Chapter of Service — And Why I Went All-In on This

From Law Enforcement to Construction | Thayne Muthler

For a period of time, I pursued law enforcement and served as a Central Pennsylvania police officer. That experience reinforced what I already believed: integrity matters, details matter, and people deserve someone who takes responsibility and follows through.

Today, I’m no longer a police officer — I do construction and excavation full time.
This isn’t a side hustle. This is the business, the craft, and the mission: build work that holds up, and run projects the right way from start to finish.

Why We Expanded Into Construction & Excavation

As the years went on, the projects kept getting bigger. Customers weren’t just asking for mulch and mowing—they needed site prep, grading, drainage solutions, retaining walls, patios, concrete prep, and full construction work. The demand grew strong enough that we created a dedicated branch of the business: Muthler Construction & Excavating.

Muthler Landscaping still exists and continues to serve our community—but Muthler Construction & Excavating is the name we operate under (DBA) for bigger excavation and construction jobs, including projects that require heavier equipment, tighter scheduling, and more involved coordination.
